Smokefree Air Trainings

ANR and the ANR Foundation offer one day or multi-day Smokefree Air trainings designed to meet your smokefree program needs.

The one-day Smokefree Air training lays the groundwork for successful smokefree education and policy work. Typical trainings include topics such as an overview of the science behind secondhand smoke, the benefits of smokefree laws, the ins-and-outs of grassroots organizing, developing and running efficient coalitions, smokefree messaging, working with key stakeholders, implementation and enforcement of smokefree laws, and tobacco industry tactics. Our trainings are centered on audience participation and interaction. Several group exercises are conducted throughout the day, usually culminating in our infamous mock city council hearing.

Our multi-day Smokefree Air training is more advanced and in-depth sessions that pick up where one-day training left off. Typically, these advanced trainings incorporate all facets of smokefree campaigns, including messaging, opposition tactics, grassroots organizing, media outreach, and more. These trainings go into great detail and provide numerous case studies and examples from around the country. Additionally, group and breakout exercises are conducted, culminating in coalition strategic planning and mapping.
