Louisiana’s capital city is now smokefree inside all workplaces and public places as of Friday, June 1st. The new law expands smokefree protections to thousands of hospitality workers who had been left behind, exposed to toxic secondhand smoke in their job at places like casinos, bars, hotels and the airport.
The smokefree indoor air law for the City of Baton Rouge and all unincorporated areas of East Baton Rouge Parish was a hard fought victory for public health that will prove popular and save lives in Louisiana for generations to come. Our sister organization, ANR, is a proud partner in the Smokefree East Baton Rouge coalition.
Baton Rouge is the state capital city of Louisiana, home to Louisiana State University (LSU), major events such as Blues Fest, and three casinos.
