ANRF Will Contribute on Several Topics Including Casinos, Advocacy, and Cannabis

ANRF is participating in this month’s National Conference on Tobacco or Health in Chicago. Traci Kennedy, Midwest States Strategist, is facilitating Approaches in Advocacy: Amplifying the Rural Voice, which looks at the challenges and opportunities impacting tobacco prevention in rural areas, and Protecting Smokefree Laws – Lessons from the Front Lines, which features three presentations about the hard work underway to advance and maintain smokefree spaces.

Liz Williams, Project and Policy Manager, is a panelist for Smoke is Still Smoke: Panel Discussion on the Impact Cannabis Legalization Can Have on Smokefree Policies, which will provide an overview of the current cannabis legalization landscape along with a discussion about the intersection of cannabis and tobacco prevention, including impacts on smokefree air laws.

ANRF’s Tribal Relations Consultant, Clinton Isham, and the Black Hills Center for American Indian Health are hosting the Reclaim Sacred Tobacco Coalition ancillary meeting, which will serve as a strategic planning meeting and kickoff event for this impactful coalition that works in Tribal communities throughout Indian Country. Clinton is also facilitating Are Casinos Gambling With Employee Health? Evaluations of Secondhand Smoke Levels in Casinos and Public Opinions on Smoke-free Casinos. This session will also feature two studies with IAQ data and casino patron survey data.

If you’re attending the conference, we would love to see you at these sessions with the ANRF team, and you can find the details in the conference agenda.
