NEW ON-DEMAND TRAININGS & RESOURCES
ANR Foundation is excited to announce that we have new offerings in our Online Self-Paced Training Series, and a new way to access our training resources.
Building Capacity for Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing is a four-part on-demand training designed to provide a comprehensive overview to people who are new to working on smokefree housing. This training is designed for tobacco prevention staff, public health partners, and advocates. Whether you have new hires that you want to bring up to speed, or your program is taking up this important issue, participants will learn foundational information about getting started on smokefree housing.
This Building Capacity training has four chapters presented by our smokefree housing experts, Liz Williams and Char Day. The chapters focus on Getting Started, Outreach to Residents & Community Stakeholders, Engaging Housing Providers, and Implementation & Enforcement Advice. The chapters are full of helpful information, including recorded presentations and their accompanying slides, worksheets to reflect on what you’re learning, guest speaker interviews, and resources to support your work.
Overcoming Barriers: Advocacy vs. Educating vs. Lobbying is a 40-minute self-paced training to help you understand how to confidently and legally engage in public health advocacy. Whether you’re new to policy engagement or need a refresher, this is a great opportunity to sharpen your skills and become the effective advocate your community needs.
This short and interactive Overcoming Barriers training includes a presentation, quizzes, real-world examples, and practical scenarios to build your confidence. You’ll learn the difference between policy advocacy, education, and lobbying; how to use a simple formula to distinguish between direct and grassroots lobbying; what is allowable under the law for local tobacco control grantees and what’s not; and how to overcome common fears or misconceptions about communicating with legislators. Participants will come away with useful resources and know where to turn for help.
Both trainings are on-demand, so you can take them at your own pace and they’re available via ANRF’s ProAccess program. The cost is $199 a year, per person, which will give you access not only to these two new trainings, but also to all of our other ANRF ProAccess resources. Those items include our 4-part Marijuana and Smokefree Air 101 training, six recorded sessions from our 2024 Clearing the Air® Institute, thirteen recordings from our Clearing the Air® webinar series, a dozen scientific recordings from our Marijuana and Smokefree Air Office Hours sessions, as well as additional resources.
