What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is essentially a charitable savings account—like a 401(k) for giving. Here’s how it works:

  1. You contribute cash, securities, or other assets to your DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction
  2. Your contribution grows tax-free over time (you can even invest it!)
  3. You recommend grants to your favorite nonprofits whenever you’re ready—including ANR or the ANR Foundation

The beauty of a DAF is that you get the tax benefit right away, but you have the flexibility to support organizations over time as you see their impact unfold. It’s strategic giving that works with your financial planning.

What Is DAF Day?

DAF Day is a national day of giving that brings together thousands of donors and nonprofits to maximize the impact of Donor-Advised Funds.
